![]() ![]() I will say though, the corn tortillas were pretty amazing. They need some sauce or something to give these some flare. Unfortunately, despite the amazing service, the food just wasn't good enough to justify the price.Braised pork tacos = dry and bland. Unless you roll with a Pineapple and Pearls or Komi budget, $92 for two people with tax and tip (no drinks) is pretty expensive. I would not agree with reviews that suggest that this place is a great value. I'd give the food 2/5, but am bumping up a mark because the service was so exceptional. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very good at all. With as good as the service is, I really wanted to like this place. ![]() I can't say enough good things about Kris and his team. The entire staff works hard to make sure that guests have a good experience. Our water glasses were constantly refilled. He does everything from clearing tables to running food. The manager, Kris, is a wonderfully nice guy who is very active in making sure guests have a good experience. It was okay, just not a standout Chocolate Tart - This was a very good dessert dish I have to say that of all of the restaurants we have been to in DC that the service here was the best I have seen. Duck Tacos - These were hyped up, but while the duck was very tender, we thought that this was a bit bland Whole Prawns - These were served with parsley puree (which was a bit hot), but overall we just didn't care for these Corn - This was a bit creamy with some bacon and had a bit of heat as an after note. This was the other of the two very good dishes Scallops - These were so spicy that we couldn't finish them. Louis Ribs - These were very good with a tamarind glaze and were very tender. We then had the following during the rest of the meal: Mac & Cheese - This was very good with ham sprinkled in and one of the two best dishes of the night St. He couldn't have been nicer and brought us a few different dishes. We very nicely explained to him that it was probably just us, but we didn't care for them. The almonds helped balance it a tiny bit, but we didn't finish this dish Fried Oysters - These were deep fried and we didn't care for this dish at all Roasted Brussels Sprouts - These were decent, but a little bland After the first four dishes, the manager noticed we hadn't eaten much of 3 of the dishes. Arctic Char Ceviche - I am not a ceviche fan, but my family member said that this was very good Shredded Cabbage Salad - The salsa verde was so hot that it totally overpowered the dish. After reading reviews that suggested the tasting menu (7 courses at $35/person) was a better value than ordering a la carte, we decided to go with that. The restaurant was full and loud, but at least you weren't on top of other tables. This isn't your typical DC restaurant where the tables are packed on top of each other. ![]() When we entered, the thing that struck me is how wide open the space is. The manager came over and made sure that the table was what we needed. ![]() We arrived 15 minutes early and the staff were ready with our table and greeted us warmly. We had a 6:30pm reservation on a Saturday and had made a special request as far as a seating arrangement. We recently had dinner at Tico, which is located about 2.5 blocks from the U Street Metro Station. ![]()
